It seems that every time you look in the news these days, there’s a new law suit over some kind of patent infringement no one’s ever heard of.
So it’s a nice change when two companies actually resolve their differences amicably, which is exactly what Facebook and Yahoo have done.
Yahoo Vs Facebook
4 months ago, Yahoo sued the social giant for infringing on 10 patents. Facebook then counter-sued Yahoo for infringing on patents they owned around photo tagging.
Despite the initial drama, it seems the 2 web giants are now totally BFFs and have even formed an advertising partnership thanks to negotiations headed up by Yahoo’s chief executive Ross Levinsohn and Facebook’s chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg.
Ross Levinsohn said in a statement:
“We are excited to develop a deeper partnership with Facebook, and I’m grateful to Sheryl and her team for working hard together with our team to develop this dynamic agreement. Combining the premium content and reach of Yahoo as the world’s leading digital media company with Facebook provides branded advertisers with unmatched opportunity.”
Sheryl Sandberg added:
“Yahoo’s new leaders are driven by a renewed focus on innovation and providing great products to users. Together, we can provide users with engaging social experiences while creating value for marketers.”
Samsung Vs Apple
Lets hope that Samsung and Apple have taken note because to be honest, we’re a little fed up of the constant patent wars between these two.
Just think what could be achieved with a little cooperation. Check out our concept video below for the amazing iSung Galaxy 5!
