While the 7.85-inch Apple iPad Mini is expected to be the star attraction at Apple’s press event, it could also be used to showcase new models of the iMac desktop, MacBook laptops and the Mac Mini component computer.
According to reports, a new wave of upgrades is due as some device’s haven’t been refreshed in over a year, so we could see a new line-up of models with speedier processors and stronger graphics.
Other rumours have suggested that alongside the iPad Mini, Apple will unveil three new Mac Minis and a new MacBook Pro. So what do we know so far?
New Apple MacBook Pro
Leaked images have surfaced that purportedly show a new 13-inch MacBook Pro laptop with an impressive 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution.
The device is set to come in at a price point ranging from $1,599 and $1,699 and feature two Thunderbolt ports, USB ports and an HDMI cable.
Apple launched a 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display earlier this year, which was well received, and a smaller version may prove just as popular.
Apple iPad Mini
The much anticipated 7.85-inch iPad Mini is also expected to have a big impact on launch, with analysts arguing that the device could hurt the PC market if priced competitively.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, RBS analyst Wanli Wang recently said that the “iPad mini will be a big hit if Apple prices it below $300.”
With entry-level pricing for the iPad Mini set to come in at £249, this should be just about on the mark.
The iPad Mini is expected to come with 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi support, as well as a liquid-crystal display, a dual-core processor and storage options ranging from 8GB to 64GB.
The scaled-down iPad is a bold new direction for Apple, but if the price is right it could to be a runaway success leading up to Christmas.
