Ever dreamed of having an app to go along with your favourite movies? Well, this is now a reality as Warner Brothers have teamed up with Apple to release a collection of “App Editions” of box office films for the small screen.
The Dark Knight and Inception App Editions are available now for the iPod Touch, the iPhone and the iPad.
Directed by Chris Nolan, the Academy Award nominated film Inception starring Leonardo DiCaprio, the Inception App Edition offers extra footage, soundboards, trivia and games.
You can also watch the first five minutes of the film for free. Should you then want to watch the rest of the film, you can buy the feature length version from the applestore.
Whilst watching the film, fans can even share their favourite quotes by accessing social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
“For many, watching a movie is a social activity and App Editions are the first mobile product to deliver this capability on a global scale,” said Thomas Gewecke, President of Warner Bros Digital Distribution.
“They [the apps] offer a fully connected experience, allowing viewers to engage with others around the world in real-time through Facebook and Twitter.”
The Inception: App Edition also includes three never before released tracks from the film. The App, which claims to revolutionise the way we watch films also includes concept art, behind the scenes footage and movie poster artwork.
The Dark Knight, also directed by Chris Nolan, will have similar features to the Inception: App Edition. The Dark Knight: App Edition includes over three hours of bonus clips and an interactive film trivia video.
Warner Brothers also plans to launch a host of new and classic movies as ‘App Editions’ in 2011.
