Very effective cleaning with the Vax Power 9 bagless upright cleaner

This is the first time I have owned an upright cleaner.  It was very easy to assemble with good clear instructions.  I did feel the plastic could have been a bit stronger as while my son was trying to fit the hose the clip started to bend and I was worried it may just snap. Overall appearance is very nice and modern.

I had vacuumed the day before but as this had arrived and had been assembled, it had to be tested. I was amazed at how much dirt it had sucked up and the carpet looked really clean. I like the long cord which saves me time not having to change sockets half way through, however it does get in the way a bit as there is no system to retract the power cable or a secure clip.

I really like the small turbo brush and where it can be stored on the handle. The long hose is excellent for stairs, and using the turbo brush the stairs have never looked so clean. However I did find that while cleaning the top of the stairs the hose did pull on the vacuum causing it to topple… maybe the hose could be a little longer or more flexible.

I like the cylinder which has a great capacity and is very easy to empty. Good set of attachments, one I had never seen before was the (long bendy crevice tool). Also like the HEPA filtration.

I did find it a little bit heavy as I am quite petite and although the handle looks very nice, however it could be more ergonomically designed to fit the hand at all angles (uncomfortable for my mild arthritis). Controls for switching carpet height I found a little difficult, although I was the only one, other family members thought it was fine. It would be good if it was a little quieter; it sounds like a lawn mower.

When vacuuming under furniture the angle at which the top half tilts could be more horizontal because it lifts the head otherwise and does not clean well without the attachments. To carry this upstairs, there is not an appropriate handle to make it easy to lift or carry. It is a little difficult manoeuvre whilst vacuuming as you have to find the correct pile direction of the carpet to avoid causing tracks in the carpet.

Overall, it is a very good vacuum cleaner, excellent cleaning ability with a few minor adjustments required.

Pros

  • Very good clean
  • Long cord
  • Long hose for stairs
  • Good attachments

Cons

  • Noisy
