Using Windows 7 Explorer

Windows 7 brings with it some nice new features to make finding documents and media files a simple process.

This guide will show you the best way to make use of these time saving tools.

If you click on the folder icon on your taskbar, the Windows Explorer window will be opened. By default, there will be four sections in this window: music, pictures, documents and videos. If you select one of these, and then click in the top right hand corner on the icon named “More options”, you will see the option to “Show the preview pane.” This is handy if there are a hundred documents and you want to find one specific one. You can see a small preview of the document to check if it’s what you are looking for. This feature will also work with the other types of files.

If you go to music, for example, you will see large images of the albums you have stored. If you choose to preview one of these albums, you can play a song directly from Windows explorer to see if it’s the one you’re looking for!
