With the Apple iPod touch now costing just £169.99, there’s never been a better time to buy one. Present one to your loved one packed full of romantic movies, music and apps you’ve downloaded from iTunes and they will be kept busy until February 14 2013.

Proline Fondue Maker

There are few things more romantic than feeding each other tasty morsels of food – unless you drop it in their lap. And this Fondue Maker is perfect for cooking up tiny titbits such as meat or cheese. But, melt some chocolate inside it, add marshmallows, biscuits and strawberries and you have the perfect Valentine’s gadget.

Hostess One Bottle Wine Chiller

A Valentine’s Day would not be complete for many without a bottle of plonk and this chiller will cool your white wine or dare I suggest, champagne, to the perfect temperature. There are three settings for different temps and although it’ll take two hours to chill, that gives the perfect time to rustle up a nice meal. There’s also a two bottle version if you are planning on a big night in.

Babyliss Pro 235 Hair Straightener

The lady you give these straighteners to might well wonder and ask you what’s wrong with her hair. But just explain she looks lovely and they’re simply for straightening emergencies or to ensure her locks look even better than they do already. With ceramic plates and a fast heat up time, they will be perfect for her to get ready before that amazing romantic night out you’ve got planned. What do you mean you’re staying in?

Babyliss i-Stubble

If you fancy your man most when he is unshaven in the beard department but he prefers the smooth as a baby look, then this is the perfect compromise. So easy to use, you just select from 15 cutting lengths, deciding how much stubble you want left on your chin, and move it across your face slowly and firmly. It takes 90 minutes for a full charge that lasts 45 minutes but a quick charge function will give enough time for a once over.

Match.com – all smartphones – Free

There are dozens of dating sites out there and I’ve only picked match.com to illustrate the point as it’s one of the biggest. But if you’re facing a Valentine’s night alone, then there’s probably no better time to go fishing for that perfect partner. After all, anyone else on there at the same time is certainly going through the same thing. You’ll need to pay a subscription but the app will allow you to meet members, browse for singles locally and create a photo profile. And best of all, you won’t have to go out of the house and see all those loved-up couples to meet your own soulmate.
