This Wednesday, Apple is set to invite the media to a mystery event next week where it is expected to unveil the iPad Mini. Here’s the latest on the device which is set to give the Nexus 7 a run for it’s money!

So far we haven’t heard a peep out of US tech giant Apple about the rumoured iPad Mini. So does the device even exist? Here’s a case for and against based on what we know (and don’t know) so far…

According to reports, Apple has decided against a 3G-enabled version of the iPad Mini, choosing instead to keep the low-cost tablet a Wi-Fi only model. Will this be the right decision with stiff competition from Amazon and Asus?

Fresh images that supposedly show the finished Apple iPad Mini have been leaked, adding yet more fuel to the rumour flames of an imminent release of a budget device to add to the Apple tablet family.

Further evidence of the iPad Mini’s existence has come to light, as Asian component suppliers claim the Californian tech giant has ordered 10 million of the devices ready for an October release.

The complex components and specs needed for the iPad Mini could mean that the device is four to six weeks behind initial expectations. Something that the late Steve Jobs predicted as a possible drawback to producing the device.
