The PS Vita is slowly winging its way over to our shores, with the official UK launch just over two weeks away now.
For the gaming industry, it is one of the biggest releases in a long time. We haven’t had a new games console since the 3DS last year, and that was just an updated version of the DS.
OK, so the Vita could be seen as an updated version of the PSP. But it is so much more than that – it is super powerful, delivers amazing graphics, and has so many extras you’ll be finding new ones for months.
And that’s not to mention the sheer volume of great games that are being released at the Vita’s launch and in the following months.
We’ve already bought you some of the most exciting games that are due for release either later this month or in the months to follow.
But one genre we’ve failed to look at (much to our horror) is that of fighting games. It is fair to say this type of game divides opinion amongst gamers.
For some, they are amongst the most iconic games out there. For others, they are repetitive and boring. Whatever your opinion, there’s no denying they look very good on the PS Vita.
Due out in spring this year, this trailer for Mortal Kombat on the Vita only recently made an appearance. The game looks fantastic, with the trailer giving us a sneak peak at the gory gameplay.
Street Fighter x Tekken
A coming together of two of the most iconic fighting games of our times, Street Fighter x Tekken is going to be huge when its released on PS3 and Xbox in March.
No definite release date for the Vita version yet, but expected soon after the console version, this will make people rush out and by the handheld just to play it. Check out this trailer from E3 last year.
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
Of all three fighting games we’ve looked at, this is by far the craziest. Due for release with the Vita’s launch, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 promises a raft of characters and excellent use of the touchscreen technology.
