Gamers around the world may be twiddling their thumbs while waiting for the likes of the Playstation 4 and Xbox 720, but it seems the current generation of consoles still has a lot to offer.
That’s because gaming just a lot more impressive, with the release of the Playstation 3D Display – a monitor designed for 3D gaming.
With accessories like this being released, we can almost forgive Sony for holding off on a next-gen console until next year (or even the year after that).
Gaming has exploded in recent years to become one of the biggest entertainment industries in the world, with fans across the globe lapping up any new titles in their millions.
While 3D TVs and 3D cinema experiences may have seen their popularity wane recently, 3D gaming is still very much on the up-and-up.
So it’s little wonder that Sony chose to jump on the 3D bandwagon with the Playstation 3D Display. But what do you need to know about this exciting gaming accessory?
Playstation 3D Display specs
Sony has come up with a pretty decent bundle for the release of its first foray into 3D gaming. The monitor has a 24-inch 1080p, 240Hz HD screen, and comes complete with two pairs of active shutter glasses.
The monitor also features SimilView. This impressive piece of technology puts an end to split screen multiplayer gaming. Players sit to the left or right of the screen, seeing a separate image to their opponent, meaning both players get full screen gaming.
Playstation 3D Display price
The price isn’t too bad, considering the hardware on offer. You’ll be able to pick up the 3D Display bundle, which also comes with Gran Turismo 5 and Killzone 3, for £449.
If you’re in the US you’ll get it even cheaper, with the bundle on sale stateside for $395 – around £245. Either way, you’ll struggle to pick one up at the moment – Amazon has already sold out after high pre-order demand.
