Social Networks Help Boost Nationwide Charity Gift Appeal

Self storage company Access Self Storage has received a big boost this December thanks to social media websites such as Twitter and Youtube in helping to promote a nationwide charity appeal.

Throughout December the company has been calling on the nation to donate new and unwanted Christmas gifts for 20 children’s charities across the country. The campaign saw as many as 5,000 gifts donated and received a lot of grass roots support from charity fundraisers and local press, which then helped the campaign to ‘go viral’.

“Across the country we have had a fantastic response from businesses and communities giving to the appeal. We are particularly pleased to see that people have been doing their bit to promote the campaign online,” said Kevin Pratt PR Manager at Access Self Storage.

“In less than a month the YouTube video promoting the appeal has had over 6,000 views, and the dedicated charity Twitter feed has nearly 1,000 followers: the nation helped our appeal to go viral and we are using our blog and social media channels to keep everyone informed of the appeal’s progress to date.”

The company has been collecting donations on behalf of the charities and by donating new and unused presents, games and toys to the special drop off point, many people can help give a gift to a disadvantaged child this Christmas.
