Skyrim, PES 2012, Assassin’s Creed & more Great Game Trailers

With Christmas just around the corner, there’s a whole host of games about to hit the shops. Platformers, shoot ‘em ups, and role-playing fantasy adventures are all on offer across a range of consoles and devices.

With such a lot of choice and only a limited amount of space in Santa’s sack, it’s always worth checking out the trailers, which seem to get bigger and more epic with every release.

Here are our pick of the most tantalising trailers out there.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

(Above) Released today, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the latest offering from Bathesda. Set in the Empire of Tamriel, the latest edition to the popular Elder Scrolls series sees the High King of Skyrim murdered leading to conflict and chaos in the kingdom. And don’t even get us started on the dragons. The trailer for this epic role-playing game shows just how vast and immersive the Elder Scrolls world is. With panning shots of the well-crafted landscape and just enough plot-reveals to whet the appetite, this trailer will have any fan of the genre begging for more. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations

The latest from the award-winning Assassin’s Creed series, Revelations is one of the most anticipated titles of the year. Makers Ubisoft know just how anxious fans of the game are to enter the Animus once again, and give little away in this teasing trailer that sees Ezio captured with a noose around his neck, will he survive? Probably, but we’re still excited. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is out on 15th November and is available on PS3, Xbox and PC, as well as smartphones.

Super Mario 3D Land

Mario is back! And this time he has a whole three-dimensional world to play in. All the old favourites are still here – the evil flowers, the deadly shells – but with all sorts of extras, from flying squirrel suits to giant spinning tortoises. The trailer struggles to convey what the 3D gameplay will actually feel like, but it’s easy to that this will be an exciting new take on Nintendo classic. Super Mario: 3D Land is out on 30th November, exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS.

Two Worlds II: Pirates of the Flying Fortress

An expansion pack to Two Worlds II, Pirates of the Flying Fortress can also be played as a stand-alone chapter – so you don’t need to buy the original game to enjoy this swash-buckling role playing game. Starting immediately where Two Worlds II finished, Pirates will give fans of the original just what they want: more quests, more characters and much more magic. But don’t be put off if you’ve never ventured into this gigantic world, this is a must-have for any RPG fan. Released on 6th December, Pirates of the Flying Fortress is available on Xbox, PS3 and PC.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012

No look at up-coming games would be complete without a look at Pro Evo 2012, Konami’s latest football offering. As you might expect, the graphics have got better and Konami claim it will give football fans the most realistic and immersive game to date. The trailer doesn’t tell you anything new, but it doesn’t really need to – fans of the game will buy it anyway. Pro Evolution Soccer is available on Xbox, PS3 and PC from 30th November.
