My first trial is of the Babyliss Wave Envy. My initial impression is that it is lightweight and feels like a durable product, the extra heat protection matt and swivel cord earned extra brownie points too. It heated quickly and was ready to use in only 10 seconds.

I liked the wide paddle, this allowed me to style wider sections of hair and get ready in a much quicker time than I expected. You can also choose between 3 heat settings so is ideal for those with fine hair, as well as thicker hair.

I have found one drawback to the Wavy Envy though. In the nature of the design, only half of the heated area is protected by the hard plastic coating and in attempt to add extra pressure to the clamp (just human nature to feel the need to do this!), I came in full contact with 200 degree heated metal. It was all going so well before this!

The final results were well received by my friends and it lived up to delivering a shiny finish from the ceramic coated barrels! The look lasted all night but had dropped out of my fine hair by the morning, although given my hair type – this is normal.

I liked the finish but I didn’t feel the ‘WOW!” factor I want for a night out; Having said this, it would be perfectly suited for a softer, day-time look.
