Samsung LE32M86BDX/XEU 32” TV – Good But Some Flaws

Samsung LE32M86BDX/XEU

Rating: ★★★★☆

I spent a long time drawing up a shortlist based on the definition, input/output ports and size for the amount of money I was willing to spend. Ultimately, the Samsung purchased (LE32M86BDX/XEU) seemed to be best value.

With 3 HDMI inputs and a 100Hz up-scaled screen rate it seemed like a great buy for its price range. Initially, it wasn’t the best experience as it took a very long time finding the AV settings that suited my preference. Others may be less fussy than I was and this may not be much of a problem. It may be that all brands are the same, I don’t know, but the sheer number of variables in picture and audio setup were too numerous in my opinion.

As many others have stated in customer reviews elsewhere, some of the built-in software that should make viewing more ‘realistic’ actually ruined the viewing experience. It just resulted in movies and shows appearing as though they hadn’t been through the post-production process, if anything. However, when the settings have been finalised the picture is generally very good.

The main problem with this television, I found, was the poor sound quality at high volumes and, more importantly, the fact that the audio is out of synchronisation on a lot of DVDs and when using the audio in.

Pros

  • Numerous Input/Outputs
  • Plenty of settings
  • Easy to setup
  • Great definition
  • Attractive

Cons

  • t
  • Poor sound quality (especially low end)
  • Built-in Freeview is VERY slow to respond.

Verdict

In conclusion I would say that this product will leave anybody generally satisfied assuming they don’t mind spending time tuning and tweaking the settings over a long period and will not get frustrated at the slow response time of the built-in Freeview.

The bass is a bit puny but that’s why you get dedicated sound systems. I would recommend this television as a second set for anybody.
