Samsung Google Galaxy Nexus launch details

Google and Samsung’s latest offering to the smartphone market, the Galaxy Nexus, is set to hit stores on 17th November.

With a host of new and exciting features, including the snazzy Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich technology, the Galaxy Nexus looks set to take the android world by storm. It will be available from a range of retailers, and will set you back about £45 a month on contract, or around £549 sim-free.

Whichever way you pay, the Nexus promises to give customer satisfaction. The 4.65” HD screen, with 720p gives it excellent picture clarity and a colourful, vivid interface. On top of this you have the 5 megapixel camera, all within a handset less than 9mm thick.

That’s not to mention the facial recognition technology, allowing users to unlock their phone with just a smile to the camera. ‘The stuff of science fiction’ according to Google. Not quite, but it is damned impressive.

Fast smartphone

The Nexus is fast too. The 1.2GHz dual core processor and HSPA+ connectivity gives excellent power and speed, as well as improved multi-tasking.

And, of course, the Nexus comes with all of Google’s new forays into cloud computing and social networking. Designed to give a ‘pure Google’ experience to users, the Nexus comes with a range of Google Mobile features. These include Android Market, Gmail, YouTube, Movie Studio, and a revamped Google+ app. All of which are connected to the cloud, so all your important stuff will be synced across your devices.

Google Maps

Google Maps 5.11 is also on there, with Nexus’s fire-power allowing turn-by-turn navigation and even 3D maps, presumably so you don’t even have to look up from your phone as you walk along.

It all sounds very impressive, and Samsung are right to be shouting about it.

Simon Stanford, Head of Mobile, Samsung UK and Ireland said: “The level of interest and anticipation surrounding the release of the Galaxy Nexus has been fantastic. The collaboration with Google is evidence of Samsung’s continuing passion for the smartphone market and commitment to delivering innovative devices. We’re delighted to introduce the Galaxy Nexus to the UK and are looking forward to seeing it in the shops.”

Roll on 17th November!
