Samsung Galaxy S3 – what we know so far

The wait is very nearly over folks, the Galaxy S3 has finally been given a launch date and even a launch location by Samsung.

You’d be forgiven for thinking this was yet another rumour-monger looking to stir up a storm by proclaiming a launch date for the long-awaited device.

But this time around, it’s completely legit. Press invites have been sent out by Samsung for an event on 3rd May in London.

With less than a month until the big date, the tech world has been sent into overdrive with Samsung’s invitation – asking people to ‘come and meet the next Galaxy’.

It marks the end of many months of salacious gossip, heated debate and some incredibly dubious ‘leaks’ of the device. So what do we know about the device so far?

Olympic Galaxy S3

The reason Samsung chose London as the Galaxy S3 is the Olympics – Samsung is one of the official partners of the Games and is planning to make the S3 the official device of the event.

We’re not sure how you can have an official device, but we’re glad to see merry old England as the setting for such an anticipated launch.

Other Galaxy S3 launches

But London might not be the only launch event, if reports are to be believed. According to an unnamed source cited in tech blog BGR, other cities could also get a launch of the S3

According to BGR, New York, Seoul and Dubai could all get a launch of their own, to tie in simultaneously with the London launch.

Multiple Galaxy S3 models

Rumours abound that the Galaxy S3 will come in not one but two colour options – a blue and black version, and a white version.

Not only this, but the device will be available in two models. You can either opt for a 16GB handset or a decent 32GB version.
