Samsung Galaxy S3 – outrageous rumours

The Galaxy S3, Samsung’s hotly-anticipated next smartphone, has got to be one of the most talked-about phones in recent memory.

Not since the first iPhone was due out all those years ago have we seen such debate and expectation over a new smartphone.

Details from Samsung have been virtually non-existent, but that’s been made up for by the sheer volume of rumour, hearsay and speculation.

Don’t get us wrong, we love a good tech rumour as much as the next website. And we’re happy to go in with an open mind to each one.

But while some may prove to be correct, an awful lot more will turn out to be pure fantasy. It is the same with any big product, and the Galaxy S3 is set to be one of the biggest this year.

So what are some of the most outrageous rumours and skewed speculation that we’ve seen pass across our desks?

Samsung Galaxy S3 launching in France

No offence to the French, but when people started speculating that a Samsung event in France was the setting for the S3’s launch, we had to laugh.

There’s nothing wrong with France, but when it comes to launch locations it helps to look back at a company’s previous choices. A far more likely location is New York – the setting of previous Samsung launches.

3D technology in Samsung Galaxy S3

We’ll be the first to admit that when we heard this one, we got a little excited. But the more we thought about it, the more ridiculous it started to sound.

3D technology is of course possible in a phone, and there’s no doubt Samsung would do it very well. But it’s a bit of a fad, and Samsung has never been one to follow such trends.

Samsung Galaxy S3 launch date

OK, so speculating over the launch date isn’t exactly outrageous. It’s just that we’ve had so many different dates thrown about that it’s getting ridiculous.

First it was CES, then it was MWC, and then a couple dates in March, then April. Speculators have since come up with more conservative estimates of sometime in the summer.
