Samsung Galaxy S Hits 10 Million Sales Worldwide

Samsung has announced it has sold 10 million Galaxy S smartphones around the world since its launch in June.

The company sold 1.4 million Galaxy S devices each month since they first went on sale, which equates to one Galaxy S sold every two seconds, or 40,000 per day.

North America sold the largest chunk of the smartphones accounting for four million units sold, while 2.5 million were sold in Europe.

Korea was in third place selling a total of two million devices while 1.5 million were sold across Asia.

What does the Galaxy S have to offer?

The Galaxy S boasts a four inch screen with a High Definition (HD) video record and playback feature powered by Android.

It comes with a 5.0 Megapixel AF camera, a self shot option, action shot capabilities and Add me, autofocus, stop motion and cartoon shot functions also help aid your picture taking.

The device is powered by 1GHz processor, which is also found in other high performance gadgets such as the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, providing fast operation, quick loading times for applications and can handle multiple tasks effectively at the same time.

Internet surfing is aided by the 3.5G support enabling the user to flick between websites quickly, this also supports WiFI, GPS, and HSDPA for quick file downloads.

The multimedia player can be used with any standard headphones allowing the user to listen to their music via the 3.5mm audio jack.

The Android 2.1 operating system means you can personalise and access different screens in the Android market, which has over 30,000 new applications and games to download for your Samsung smartphone.

Support for popular social network sites is also included so people can stay in touch on the go – these features include Google Mail and Google Maps.
