PURE Lounge Aims to Become ‘Google of Internet Radio’

PURE, the world’s leading manufacturer of internet-connected digital radios and the company behind the stylishly retro looking EVOKE-1S, the world’s most popular digital radio, has announced a massive revamp of its radio and media portal, adding a full online music store for music fans, too.

Using what PURE have described a ‘new and intuitive search technology,’ the company claim that the PURE Lounge ( makes it even easier and quicker to locate any of the 200,000 different types of audio content on the Lounge.

All content can be easily listened to and also managed through PURE’s internet-connected radio range. All a user has to do is type in any search term and the Lounge will intelligently locate content on that subject or genre across both live radio and on-demand content, including podcasts from across the world and the BBC’s Listen Again services. There is also a new ‘at a glance’ section giving users a quick and efficient view of top rated content.

For anyone in love with Twitter and Facebook, the Lounge will not disappoint either as every page on the Lounge can be sent straight to friends on Twitter or Facebook so you can share whatever content you like with your friends, be it the latest jazz station in France, Japanese Dub-Step or a top rated podcast from Bolivia.

FlowSongs: Cloud Based Music Service

Users can also set up a Lounge account on the website give them access to a service called FlowSongs. FlowSongs is PURE’s ground-breaking cloud-based music service that allows the user to tag tracks playing on any radio station and buy them directly from any PURE radio that has Flow technology built inside.

The Lounge does look like an impressive new direction for PURE, integrating as it does the best of digital radio content with the best features of the web, the cloud and social media, but is it really going to become, as Colin Crawford, PURE’s director of marketing boasts ‘the ‘Google’ of internet radio portals’?

Only time will tell, so the answer is of course to stay tuned!
