PS Vita, iPhone 5, Nokia Lumia 900… most exciting gadgets for 2012

2011 is dead, long live 2012! And with a New Year comes new gadgets.

From games consoles (both regular and handheld) to smartphones, tablets to laptops, there is a lot to be getting excited about in 2012.

So what are the most exciting gadgets we can expect next year? Here is our round up of the pieces of awesome tech kit that we are most excited about.

Sony PS Vita

We’ve all been looking forward to this one for a pretty long time now, but it is still exciting! Sony’s latest offering to the gaming market is a handheld console that it hopes will blow the 3DS out of the water.

From what we can tell, this aim will be achieved as a raft of decent games has already been announced to coincide with the Vita’s launch in February.

Nokia Lumia 900

Having released the critically acclaimed Lumia 800 towards the end of this year, rumours abound that Nokia are gearing up for the release of the next incarnation as early as February.

The Lumia 900 will look an awful lot like the 800, but with a bigger screen, higher specs, and an OS update.

iPhone 5

As with all Apple product launches, we are all completely in the dark about the iPhone 5’s release. But if history is anything to go by, Apple will wait until the autumn to before giving this one to world.

Having said that, some are suggesting that we could see a much earlier release date, possibly around March. The iPhone 5 is set to be a completely new design, with a bigger screen and 4G connectivity. We can also expect more use of the voice recognition software Siri.

Xbox 720

A new console from Microsoft is the stuff of dreams at the moment, but the computer giant may want to release its super-powerful new console in time for Christmas next year.

A more likely situation is an unveiling at CES 2013. But we prefer the mantra that if you wish hard enough, dreams can come true.
