PlayStation 3 Move Motion Controllers Fly off Shelves

The popularity of the PlayStation Move motion controller continues to grow worldwide as Sony announce 4.1 million sales to retailers worldwide.

The Move controllers, which have been on sale since September, are designed for PlayStation 3 and use the PlayStation Eye camera 2 to detect movement, angle and position in 3D space.

Users can move naturally with the device as the Move’s motion detectors pick up movements so it seems like he or she is actually inside the game.

The detectors go one step further by not only capturing the player’s moves but also their image to augment the reality in certain games.

PlayStation Move supports games such as Sports Champions, Start the Party, EyePet Move Edition, MAG, SingStar Dance and many more.

New upcoming releases such as Killzone 3 and LittleBigPlanet 2 will also be PlayStation Move adapted so the motion experience can be used to enhance new games further.

The Move has been launched by Sony to compete against the Xbox 360 Kinect Sensor, which Microsoft announced recently has sold more than 2.5 million since launching. Unlike the Move, which does require the gamer to hold a small device or wand, the Kinect Sensor allows users to control games, movies, music, and television without the use of a controller, using just your voice and body gestures.

PlayStation 3 Features

The newest edition of PlayStation 3 has been available to buy for five years, but only went on sale in Europe in March, 2007. Sony has sold more than 41.6 million PlayStation 3s since launch.

Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) also allows devices to be accessed via the PlayStation 3, such as PCs and compatible televisions linked via the internet router. You can then us your PlayStation 3 to access videos, photos and music stored on other servers and digital devices wirelessly through DLNA capabilities.
