Nokia Lumia 800, iTunes, Modern Warfare 3, Max Mosley… the week’s tech news round up

As usual, it’s been a busy week in the world of tech. Here is our pick of the top products, people and stories that have made the news this week.

Nokia Lumia 800

Nokia’s triumphant return to the smartphone market suffered a set-back this week, as users of the Lumia 800 have complained of a bug draining the battery life. Nokia have promised a patch to fix the problem in the next couple of weeks.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

The blockbuster game was in hot water this week, as an early day motion in the House of Commons questioned the appropriateness of the game’s London scenes, which feature terrorists on the underground.

Fortunately, common sense prevailed and the motion was overturned, with MPs even complementing the game’s user interface.

As Black Friday took American shoppers by storm, iTunes customers were being warned of a malware program being sent out disguised as a voucher.

In all the bargain-hunting pandemonium, cyber criminals hoped that people would jump at the chance for a $50 voucher, enabling the crooks to access passwords and credit card information.

Max Mosley

The former F1 boss gave evidence to the Leveson Enquiry this week about his court case with the News Of The World. He is now suing Google in an attempt to force the internet search giant to censor search results about his alleged sado-masochistic orgy.

Galaxy Nexus

Another bug story, as Galaxy Nexus users complain of problems with the sound on their device. Google and Samsung have confirmed that the smartphone has a bug that makes the volume drop out at random.

Both companies have issued a statement saying they are aware of the problem, and will release a patch in the next couple of weeks.
