New Epson Stylus Photo R2000

The new Epson Stylus Photo R2000 promises to meet the increased needs of consumers by offering top quality print jobs for personal and professional use. Find out more about what it has to offer.

The new A3+, 8-colour photo printer, which has an impressive 5760dpi print resolution delivers high-quality photographic prints using Epson UltraChrome Hi-Gloss2 pigment ink so you should be able to get an ultra-glossy finish for photos, but at the same time enjoy all the benefits of a pigment ink – including durable, long-lasting prints and the flexibility to work with a wide range of media.

The new printer comes with 17ml ink cartridges with the advantage of 50 percent higher capacity cartridges compared to previous models in its class. This, Epson claim, allows larger print jobs to be completed with fewer ink changes.

When it comes to print quality, Epson have made considerable improvements, too. The printhead delivers a variable droplet size down to 1.5pl. They have also introduced an ink mixing function to prevent ink settling in the cartridges, too, something that should ensure that colour reproduction as accurate as possible – ideal if you are keen to print photographs or professional finish print jobs.

The printer does support fine art, glossy and matte media, both in cut-sheet and roll-paper formats, as well as the ability to print onto CDs or DVDs, and even directly onto items such as poster board. You can also print directly from PictBridge-enabled cameras.

The new R2000 also comes with wireless connectivity, making the R2000 one of the few printers in its category to feature Wi-Fi. Combined with USB and Ethernet connectivity, Wi-Fi enables the R2000 allows users to print remotely from iPhones or iPads using the Epson iPrint app.

The Epson Stylus Photo R2000 will be available from May 2011 with a retail price of around £419.99.
