New balls please. New Dyson technology now available.

Continuous improvement and refining of Dyson technology

When Dyson engineers first unveiled DC15, the first upright vacuum to sit on a ball, they introduced a new way to turn corners. Conventional upright vacuums are awkward to steer because they use fixed wheels. To move around obstacles you have to go back and forth, back and forth. Dyson Ball™ vacuums can turn on the spot.

But our engineers’ work doesn’t stop once a new invention has been launched – they’re continually improving and refining their technology. By locating more of the vacuum’s key components inside the ball itself, they realised that they could make Dyson Ball™ machines more streamlined. Solving this challenge has meant that our new Dyson Ball™ upright vacuums, DC40 Multi Floor Complete, DC40 Animal Complete and DC41 Animal Complete, have less clutter around the ball. They can manoeuvre more easily into tight or difficult spaces.

Improving manoeuvrability

Our engineers have also been working to improve the manoeuvrability of cylinder vacuum cleaners. Conventional cylinder vacuums can be heavy to pull, head the wrong way and collide with obstacles. Some drift about on castors, and others use wheels that oversteer. It can be a constant battle to keep your machine moving in the direction that you want it to.

DC38 Multi Floor Complete, DC39 Animal Complete and DC39 Multi Floor Complete are new Dyson cylinder vacuums with Ball™ technology. Like upright Dyson Ball™ vacuums
they turn on the spot. Key components are located in the ball, with the heaviest component (the motor) positioned towards the base for a low centre of gravity and greater stability. Even the cable rewind system is inside the ball – it has been miniaturised to be smaller and lighter without compromising cable
length.

DC38 and DC39 are also the only cylinder vacuums with a central steering mechanism. Together with Ball™ technology, this allows them to make tight turning circles and follow
the user’s path more accurately.

Latest technology

As with all Dyson vacuum cleaners, Dyson Ball™ vacuums don’t use bags, so there’s no loss of suction. They have our latest Radial Root Cyclone™ technology, with remodelled airways to maximise suction power. Dyson cyclones capture more dirt than any other cyclone, and there are no bags or filters to buy so there are no extra costs.

Complete range – extra tools for tough cleaning tasks

All of the vacuums in our Complete range come with extra tools for tough cleaning tasks. The flexi crevice tool extends and flexes into awkward gaps, and the stubborn dirt brush has stiff bristles for cleaning mud and dried-in dirt. They also come with Dyzolv™ spot cleaner for spots and spills on carpets and rugs.

Cordless range

As well as new Dyson Ball™ vacuums, 2012 has brought new developments in our cordless vacuum range too, with the launch of DC35 Animal. With twice the suction power of any other lightweight cordless vacuum in use, DC35 Animal also comes with a Mini motorised brush bar for removing pet hair from carpets and upholstery. It has dual power mode so that you can choose either 15 minutes of high constant suction or 6 minutes on boost mode for more difficult tasks.

Why ball cylinders are better

Our very own John Churchill explains the technology behind the new range of cylinder and why Dyson ball cylinders are better. Find out more about how our Dyson engineers put the new technology through it’s paces by viewing the clip above.

All Dyson upright and cylinder vacuums come with a 5 year guarantee, and our cordless vacuums have a 2 year guarantee.  They’re supported by our award-winning customer support team based in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, at the same place that new Dyson technology is invented and developed.
