Samsung 32in Full HD 1080P Freeview LCD TV LE32C530F1WXXU

Rating: ★★★★☆

I was not sure what to expect when purchasing my new TV. I had heard mixed reviews about Samsung and if there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s paying hundreds of ££s only to receive a dud. Actually, there are 2 things I can’t stand, the one I’ve just mentioned and the subsequent hassle of returns, repurchases, ‘oh that’s never happened before’s’ (come on, we all know it’s a standard corporate response) and general irritations which leave me frustrated and TV-less!

That said, I needed a TV and there doesn’t appear to me a lot in it regarding quality and functions in the low/mid price range. I considered several options, all around the same price (around the £400 – 500 mark at the time, £300 – £400 now), before settling on the 32in Full HD 1080P Freeview LCD TV.

When it arrived, it was very easy to connect the stand and setup was a breeze. Quite literally plug and play! The picture quality is great for this price range and the built in freeview is only hampered by the awful reception in my area. The HD looks great and the sleek, black frame and stand look very stylish. I’m not sure it needs to announce when it is turned on and off quite so loudly (with a mobile phone style tune) but I have become accustomed to it now.

The sound really has to be mentioned. This TV has great sound in both volume capability and tone. There are several different sound options ie movie, music etc but I don’t usually take advantage of them. This is because it never occurs to me during my viewing, it sounds excellent.

It also came with an HDMI cable included which appears to be rare. There is only 1 scart socket which is a little disappointing but this would be sorted easily with a multi-scart adapter, however, the complete list of connection options are:

3 x HDMI
1 x USB
1 x Component In (Y/Pb/Pr)
1 x Composite In (AV)
1 x Digital Audio Out (Optical)
1 x PC In (D-sub/VGA)
1 x CI Slot
1 x RF in
1 x Headphone
1 x PC Audio In Mini Jack
1 x DVI Audio In Mini Jack

The USB 2.0 Connect Share Movie feature is a neat addition, allowing you to view pictures, listen to music and even watch videos.

So far, I am very happy with my purchase. The look, sound, picture quality are all perfectly fine for my needs and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking in the mid price range.

  • Sound quality

  • ease of connection/setup
  • Lots of connection options

  • 1 scart
  • Standard freeview (Not HD)
  • On/Off tune

A great place to start with full HD capability. Average price but well thought through product.
