Rumours of a Lenovo Windows 8-equipped ThinkPad Tablet 2 have been circulating for while, and the latest leak gives us some juicy details of the device.
With some tipping it to be a real contender in the tablet market, it’s no wonder that people are hungry for news about the device.
Now an unnamed source has leaked details about the ThinkPad Tablet 2, fuelling speculation that we could see the second generation tablet on our shelves in the near future. So what do the new leaks tell us?
Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 specs
Though Lenovo has yet to make an announcement about the launch of any new products, the ThinkPad Tablet 2 is set to include a pen stylus, and optional physical keyboard dock.
Other specs include a 10.1-inch WXGA touchscreen and an Intel dual-core Clover Trail processor. The tablet offers 2GB of RAM and a very decent 64GB of storage.
In a head-to-head comparison with the iPad, the ThinkPad 2 comes out on top in almost all areas, including input methods, speakers, cameras, available apps and resolution.
The ThinkPad’s 1366 x 768 display resolution is never going to match up to the iPad’s dazzling retina display, but looks aren’t everything.
Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 features
The ThinkPad Tablet 2 measures 262.6 x 164 x 9.8mm, weighs 650g, and is set to trump the iPad in a number of other areas. This includes ThinkPad 2′s cameras, 8MP for the rear and 2MP for the front, both with LED flash.
This is as well as HSPA+/LTE compatibility, optional NFC and fingerprint reading, as well as Mini HDMI, microSD support and USB 2.0 connectors.
While many would doubt that any tablet, let alone ThinkPad Tablet 2, has the capability to take the limelight from iPad, especially with an iPad Mini in the pipeline, the success of tablets such as the Google Nexus 7 may give it an outsider’s chance.
