Kindle Officially Best Selling Product Ever

Amazon have announced that the third-generation Kindle is now the bestselling product in the company’s history. Find out why more people than ever are being won over by e-readers.

In the run-up to Christmas Amazon announced that on November 29th, they sold more than 13.7 million worldwide, an impressive 158 items per second.

On Christmas Day, more people turned on new Kindles for the first time, downloaded more Kindle Buy Once, Read Everywhere apps, and purchased more Kindle books than on any other day in history. “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” was the most purchased Kindle book on Christmas Day.

The Kindle has now eclipsed the record set by book 7 in the Harry Potter book franchise, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.’

The Kindle and other e-readers are growing in popularity, often becoming part of wider technology, used in conjunction with iPads, laptops and smartphones, something Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has not failed to notice.

“We’re seeing that many of the people who are buying Kindles also own an LCD tablet,” he says.

“Customers report using their LCD tablets for games, movies, and web browsing and their Kindles for reading sessions.”

Tablet computers such as the Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab were very popular Christmas gifts this year. Research from revealed recently that the total amount British consumers could spend on table computers equates to £1.4 billion.

E-Readers Growing in Popularity

Thanks to their light-weight, ease of use and long battery life, many people are being won over by e-readers. And  while the Kindle is undoubtedly popular, there are alternatives available.
