John Carter Movie Trailer: is it the next Avatar?

Disney has just released the trailer for what promises to be a sci-fi epic – John Carter.

The movie is based on the book by Edgar Rich Burroughs and has been dubbed a ‘Martian comic book’, which tells the tale of civil war veteran John Carter and his adventures when he is transported to Mars!

Of course once he gets there he finds himself embroiled in yet another war. Cue lots of Sci-Fi action.

The movie is directed by Created Andrew Stanton – the man behind Finding Nemo and Wall-E.

The cast includes Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West and Willem Dafoe, to name just a few and if the trailer is anything to go by John Carter looks like it could be a massive blockbuster when it hits cinema screens next year.

With impressive graphics and all-action it will no doubt also become one of those must-own DVDs for home cinema fanatics, too. If the online buzz surrounding the launch of the John Carter trailer is anything to go by, Sci-Fi and movie fans are expecting big Avatar and Star Wars style things from this film.

How Blu-Ray Has Transformed Home Entertainment

Action movie sales have recently undergone a rival thanks to home cinemas and the blu-ray platform.

Whereas DVDs are recorded in standard-definition (SD), Blu-ray discs utilise high-definition (HD) technology to give more vivid pictures and enhanced sound. They work alongside a HD Ready television and those with a 1080p set will experience the highest quality.

The great thing about a Blu-ray player is that they can ‘upscale’ your current DVD collection to near high-definition (HD) quality, making the films look and sound a lot better than if they were played on a normal DVD player. So rather than render your old DVDs as useless, a Blu-ray player will in fact give them a new lease of life.
