HTC Desire Z – excellent all round

HTC Desire Z

Rating: ★★★★★

I do a lot of texting and like to Skype on my phone. I’d not had an Android phone before but had seen some great applications I really wanted. the Google StarMap is one. If you haven’t seen it, wow, you really must.

I’ve had mixed experiences with touch-screen phones so wanted a keyboard and that was a big feature of this Desire. In the end, I use it for longer messages but find the touch screen is so good that I don’t for shorter amounts of text.

The phone has a really good sized screen too and I love connecting it to my wifi at home (and watching telly in the loo!).

All the rest is what I’ve come to expect of a phone – good camera, contacts, setup options.

The downsides? Only two really and neither is major. Battery life is a little short, but not excessibley so. And with the keyboard out it’s not too stable on an uneven surface.
