GTA 5 trailer – Grand Theft Auto goes back to San Andreas

I’m a big Grand Theft Auto fan, particularly the PlayStation 2 era games. The new cinematic trailer for GTA 5 has got a lot for me to be excited about.

The new trailer is big on cinematic atmosphere, but low on details. It does tell us a few things about the new Grand Theft Auto though. Let’s take a look at a few important points.

New GTA character

The trailer features narration from an unnamed mobster trying to retire to a sunnier climate from the big city, possibly Liberty City, featured in GTA 3 & 4. It seems like Rockstar Games are going back ot their roots with this one. There had been some rumours floating around the web that Grand Theft Auto V would feature the series’ first female protagonist. If the trailer is anything to go by, we back to the traditional suited big city gangster, albeit a bit older than in the previous games.

Back to San Andreas

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was my favourite of all the GTA games so far, mostly because San Andreas was so much fun to explore. The trailer shows of some key locations, such as Vinewood in Los Santos, and the whole thing is dripping with gorgeous California-style scenery. Whether the game is as expansive as GTA: San Andreas, or chooses to flesh out the city of Los Santos a little more, I’ll be a happy man.

Amazing graphics for GTA 5

Obviously it’s hard to tell from pre-rendered animation, but if the trailer video is anything to go by, this game is going to look stunning. From the lighting effects of the low-hanging sun, to the cityscape or the beautiful mountains. GTA 5 is going to be packed full of eye-candy.

Everything you expect from Grand Theft Auto

The trailer shows off some good looking cars, boats, helicopters and planes, as well as some serious action. This should be a treat for GTA fans everywhere.

GTA 5 launch date?

What the trailer really lacks is launch information. We don’t know the release date, nor what platforms it will appear on. PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows PC, Mac, or even Wii U? We’ve no idea, but I can’t wait to find out.
