GTA 5 release date confirmed in leaked image?

GTA 5, the hotly anticipated next instalment in the Grand Theft Auto series, has had a release date touted via a leak on a GTA 5 forum.

It has been a year since we first got a look at that teasing trailer for GTA 5, and all we’ve had to go on since then is a couple of screenshots and plenty of wild speculation.

It’s fair to say that, this time last year, most of us thought we’d be playing the game, or at the very least counting down the days until its release.

Yet here we are, still waiting and wondering. But as the (expected) release date draws ever closer, we can expect plenty more in the way of concrete information.

GTA 5 poster leaked

The latest piece of juicy detail concerns the one thing we care about more than anything – GTA 5’s release date.

We had expected it in the early stages of next year, and that suspicion seems to have been confirmed by a leaked image showing a poster for the game.

A GTA 5 poster, which has appeared on fan forum GTA-Five, gives the game the slightly vague release date of spring 2013.

Of course, there is no guarantee that this leak is real – it has appeared on a fan forum after all – but it does look rather convincing and is line with expectations.

There’s no info on whether this is the release date for a specific region, but given that GTA 4 was released simultaneously in Europe, America and Australia, we can expect the same this time around.

No GTA 5 on Wii U or PC?

Aside from a release date, the poster also indicates that Nintendo Wii U and PC users may be disappointed – the only two machines mentioned are the Xbox 360 and PS3.

This could of course mean that the Xbox and Playstation will be the launch platforms, with PCs and the Wii U to follow at a later date.

Either way, it looks like it’s time to start looking forward to GTA 5. We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves, but spring 2013 can’t come soon enough!
