‘Do Some Good’ App from Orange Comes to BlackBerry

For anyone looking to do some volunteering this summer a new mobile app from Orange is now available on BlackBerry.

Just a month after launching on the Apple app store for iPhone and iPad users, the ‘Do Some Good’ app from Orange is now available to download free of charge (as you’d hope!) from the BlackBerry app store.

And if you thought volunteering sounds good, but you simply don’t have the time to get involved, think again: the ‘Do Some Good’ app is designed for bite-size volunteering through a mobile phone, enabling users to get involved – all in less than five minutes.

The app includes twelve different charity ‘actions’ that consumers can complete anytime, with Orange committed to adding new actions throughout the year.

Orange has created these different volunteering actions in collaboration with 12 unique charities. Just some of the charities involved include CyberMentors, an online platform run by the award-winning charity Beatbullying.

The website allows mentors aged between 11 and 25 to support other young people who are being bullied and refers them to a qualified counsellor when necessary. On the app you can map bullying around the UK so that CyberMentors can better target services.

Another interesting charity includes Hidden Science, an initiative from Future Morph, the Science Council’s website, which aims to provide people with information about careers in science and maths.

The ‘Do Some Good App’ lets you get involved in a number of easy-to-do ways. For example, you can use the app to upload a photo of a rundown green space for guerrilla gardeners or complete a five question survey to help the Samaritans gain a better understanding of the nation’s wellbeing.

And if you wanted another reason to get involved: people who complete 60 actions (equivalent to four hours) of volunteering time through the ‘Do Some Good’ app will become eligible to join the Orange RockCorps Collective and earn amazing music rewards, such as tickets to a gig of your choice.
