Changing your Apple Desktop Background & Screensaver

Click on the apple image on the top left hand corner, and select “System Preferences” from the drop down menu.

The window that pops up will show the option “Screen saver” on the top row. (A shortcut to this is to use a two finger tap which will also take you to the same drop down menu. On an iMac, hold down the control key and click on the desktop for this same shortcut.)

Now, from the images you see here on the left, you can select an image as your background. There is also the option to change this image at intervals of your choice. If you select for the pictures to be displayed in a random order, it will show any image from your selected folder.

If you look to the bottom left, you will see a plus sign, which is where you can add your own folders to use for your desktop background. You could, for example, have a slideshow of last year’s holiday pictures as your background.

When choosing your screensaver, you have the choice to select Apple images already on your computer, or your own images. There is a sliding feature at the bottom of this window, with which you specify how long you want the computer to wait before switching to the screensaver.

Now you can confidently change your desktop background and screensaver, and make the most of the pictures on your computer.
