Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Multiplayer Trailer Released

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, like all COD titles before is highly anticipated by the gaming world and rightly so.

Unlike previous titles though, Black Ops 2 is a departure from the series in the sense that this release will be set in the future. Enter a new foe, new weaponry and a selection of futuristic maps to conquer.

What to expect

I’m expecting to see futuristic weapons (I’m hoping for a Bond-esque Moonraker laser, but I doubt this will happen). From the trailer at least there appears to be a grenade that emits an electrical shock to nearby enemies. Hard to tell if it’s a kill on contact weapon or to be used like flash bang or stun grenade. Either way, pretty cool.

The trailer also features a few tags which players can earn. One tag is called ‘Red Baron’, which the user achieves by making a kill using an armed Parrot Drone.

Although not in the trailer above, having Treyarch as the developer means the return of Zombie’s. A game mode that, for whatever bizarre reason is always left out of Infinity Wards’ Modern Warfare series. This always adds longevity to the COD title, nothing beats slaying hundreds of Nazi zombies… Nothing.

Spectator mode

Treyarch has kept a lot of the new game modes close to the chest although the trailer indicates that there will be a ‘spectator mode’, triggered by the gamer card that pops up in the first 10 seconds.

The card displays the players load out, kill streaks and more. This may very well just be an active perk a player is using to analyse the enemy but the display seems too intrusive to be an in-game player perk.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is out on November 13th 2012 and will most likely top the Christmas charts. For now though, enjoy the trailer and fingers crossed we’ll see a bit more footage before the launch!
