BT250 Baby Monitor with Style

BT Baby Monitor 250

Rating: ★★★★½

Design and Features

I tested the 250 model baby monitor from BT. On first impressions, the mains unit reminded me of the stone looking soft lights you could get for your lounge or bedroom that changes colour. The smart design and well thought out features make this monitor a real treat worth considering. The layout of the buttons on the mains unit are simple and functional, including the power button, light, volume controls, music and more.  Setting up and using this monitor is extremely straightforward and I found I didnt need to refer to the instruction manual at all, which is always a bonus!

The grips on the base ensured the unit sat reassuringly firm upon any of the surfaces I tried out from tables, window seals and a book shelf, for example. The HD sound built into the unit provided incredible sound quality and clarity without any annoying interference.

There are 8 lovely soothing lullabies including some tasteful classical tunes which my baby and me enjoyed listening to.  The built in alert is a fantastic function to inform you if your baby is crying.

The temperature gauge works really well by glowing blue if the room gets too cold and turns red if it gets too hot. This is also supported by a digital reading on the hand held monitor, so you can keep a constant eye on the baby’s room temperature.  A really important and much needed function.

The night light is perfect if you don’t want to leave you baby in complete darkness but is soft enough to guide you around the room. Also, it’s not too bright as to disturb the baby when they are drifting off to sleep.

A handy built in torch on the hand held unit provides you with a precise illumination too, if you so require.

On this monitor, there is a talk function. This is great to reassure your baby if they stir without the need to re- enter their room. An ideal feature for me as my baby would get over excited and be difficult to settle if I was to go back into her room.

I found the addition of a timer a great feature to help set reminders – an ideal option for setting feeding times, for example.

The range is really impressive and covers a huge 300m outside and up to 50m indoors.

My only slight issue would be on the battery life of the parent unit, which didn’t last very long compared to other monitors I’ve tried and tested. However, as long as you ensure it’s charged after each use, it’s not too much of an issue.

This monitor comes complete with a purple travel bag which ensures you have all the essential parts kept neatly together for your trip away.

  • Good selection of music
  • talk function
  • Easy to use
  • Stylish design

  • Battery life of parent unit

Overall, apart from the battery not lasting as long as I’d like on the parent unit, I found this a very easy to use, stylish and feature filled baby monitor that ticked most of the boxes to suit my needs. It’s a more basic model compared to BT’s more advanced model (BT Monitor & Pacifier) which comes with more lullabies and a lightshow.  See my review of this model here
