BlackBerry PlayBook UK Availability Announced

Having just launched in the US and Canada this week, BlackBerry enthusiasts can now pre-register for the PlayBook in the UK.

As the ‘tablet wars’ look set to intensify throughout 2011, the latest hotly anticipated tablet to attempt to take on the might of Apple’s iPad – the BlackBerry PlayBook launched on 19th April in the USA and Canada.

UK fans can pre-register for one of the devices now via the Phones 4U website. The UK launch date is yet to be announced, but one thing is certain – it will be soon. UK PlayBook users will be able to choose from a number of networks with Phones 4U, including Orange, T-Mobile, O2, Vodafone and Three.

BlackBerry PlayBook in the UK

The Blackberry PlayBook has rear and front cameras and stereo speakers and microphones, which are perfect for capturing and creating video. It is available in three models – 16 GB, 32 GB and 64GB and it has dual core Marvell SoC at 1.2GHz, 1GB RAM.

The BlackBerry PlayBook has Wi-Fi and bluetooth connections, which if you happen to have a BlackBerry smartphone is great. The PlayBook can pair with BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry Device Software v5 or higher so you can wirelessly connect to your BlackBerry smartphone to access information like email, your calendar and the address book.

The new PlayBook portable device runs on the BlackBerry Tablet OS as opposed to the BBOS6 which is currently used on their smartphones and it has a 7 inch high resolution display and even supports Adobe Flash.

The touch sensitive LCD screen makes multi-tasking easier and is surrounded by a wide black bezel which if touched will bring up the menu. Flash 10.1 and HTML are supported on this tablet as well as HD video playback.
