Taiwanese tech firm Asus has proved its status as one of the giants of the industry by scooping five titles at the T3 Gadget Awards.
The company’s popular Google Nexus 7 tablet has garnered praise from all circles since its launch and earned the prestigious accolade of Gadget Of The Year award.
Asus saw off competition from the best-selling Samsung Galaxy 3 and Apple’s iPhone 4S to take the best gadget title, with the Nexus 7 also picking up Tablet of the Year.
Asus rounded off a hugely successful night title with the Tech Brand of the Year title, as well gongs in the Design Award category and Computer of the Year category.
Is Asus as a real challenger?
While Apple was nominated for nine categories and Samsung ten, both only managed to walk away with one award each, dwarfing Asus’s success.
The Apple iPhone 4S took Work Gadget of the Year, while the Samsung Galaxy S3 took Phone of the Year
It would then seem that Apple and Samsung were the kings of the smartphone market, while Asus’s strengths lie in its computer technology.
This is backed up by the fact that the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime scooped the T3 Design Award, while the Asus Zenbook UX31 won Computer of the Year.
In a series of benchmarking tests recently, the Nexus 7 and the Asus Transformer Prime TF201 took second and third place respectively in battery life tests, while the Asus Transformer Pad took third place in the page loading test.
