Apps to help celebrate the Royal Wedding

We’re just ONE day away from the Royal Wedding and if you’ve not yet got the bunting out or put those pieces of cheese on a stick, then what are you waiting for.

Prince William will marry Kate Middleton tomorrow at Westminster Abbey and while The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Camilla and Prince Harry will all be sitting in the pews, most of us commoners will have to make do with watching it on a TV at home.

But what if you are working over this extra special Bank Holiday Friday or you’re out and about?

Well, to help you celebrate their happy day with Prince William and Catherine Middleton, we’ve come up with a list of apps that should allow you to see the ceremony, join in the
fun and hopefully get a glimpse of that famous kiss on the balcony at Buckingham Palace without having to camp for three days in The Mall.

Sky News for iPad – Apple App Store – Free

One of the best iPad apps in existence on any given day, this will become even more useful come the wedding band striking up. Watch the ceremony live and then catch up with all the
reports and reaction from across the UK.

ITN Royal Wedding App – Nokia Ovi – Free

Packed with news feeds, the latest video and all the Royal gossip, this app from ITN is free to download and considering ITN Political Editor Tom Bradbury is a close friend of Wills and Kate, it kind of has the Royal seal of approval too.

Royal London Audio Walking Tour – iPhone – Free

Created by the people behind the Lonely Planet guides, this goes through 13 important sites on that famous route from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace. It’s the same route
William and his bride will take after they become man and wife. Featuring a map and descriptions, it’s a must for anyone visiting London tomorrow.

The British Monarchy – Facebook – Free

Not so much an app as a Facebook page but this has all the official news, links to a video guest book and charity wedding present donation website as well as details of the official Twitter account – @clarencehouse.

Royal Wedding – The Wills & Kate Story – iPhone/iPad – £1.19

Made by the folks at the Daily Mirror, this app has 10 chapters packed full of the back story of Prince William and Catherine Middleton’s romance and includes audio and video.

London Underground Tube Map – all platforms – Free

If you don’t know your way around London’s tube system then this is a must-download. Available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Nokia and Android, it has the backing of Transport for London so should be up-to-date with any tube station closures due to overcrowding from those arriving to join in the fun in the capital.

Hipstamatic – iPhone – £1.19

If you are planning on lining the Royal Wedding route tomorrow or just going to a local Street Party, then take some pictures to look back on in years to come. And to make them stand out from the rest, use this app with a host of different lenses and filters to change their look from the normal, bland camera phone shots to something more arty or even historic looking in black & white.
