The new iPad is now more than a week old,
and in our books that means it’s old news. So where do we turn now? To the next
iPhone of course.
The rumour mill nearly crashed and burned
under the weight of salacious gossip leading up to the new iPad’s release.
There seemed to be a new piece of speculation about once an hour in the final
days leading up to the launch.
But it’s all over now, and the specs and
features are out there for all to see. The Apple rumour mill has had a little
break, and is now back in full swing as we count down to the iPhone 5.
The next-gen smartphone from Apple is still
a while away – the iPhone 4S is still doing very well. But that’s never stopped
the gossip before. So what are the hottest new rumours?
Apple iPhone 5 display size
There have been a number of rumours
regarding the size of the next iPhone’s screen size – the rumour-mongers don’t
waste time, do they?
The first rumour about the screen size to
surface recently came courtesy of Korean business newspaper Maeil. Quoting an
‘unnamed media source’ (what else?), the paper stated that the iPhone 5’s
screen will be a bumper 4.6 inches.
It was a bold claim, given Apple’s past
products, and a new source has poured cold water over it. Apple-watching
website iMore has claimed that the iPhone 5 will actually have a display
similar to ones we have seen already.
Other Apple iPhone 5 specs
There have of course been plenty of rumours
surrounding the iPhone 5’s specs. So far we’ve heard talk of a quad-core ARM A6
processor, more RAM and storage options, and an improved camera.
Apple iPhone 5 not the iPhone 5?
This is one rumour we’re fairly sure will
come true – that the next iPhone will lose the numerical branding, much like
the new iPad did.
So what will it be called? The iPhone HD?
The iPhone 4SS? A far more likely outcome is simply the iPhone, leaving it up
to us to differentiate it from past models.
