Apple iPhone 5 and iPad Mini – New images leaked

One of the most highly anticipated Apple product launches – and that’s really saying something – is now just a matter of weeks away. At least we hope it is.

The rumours really start to build ahead of any tech launch, but the speculation is always most rife with Apple and this time around it’s no different.

There have also been plenty of so-called leaks in recent weeks, and the latest come courtesy of a French blog. So what do the leaks tell us?

Apple iPhone 5: what’s new?

The pictures show features including a headphone jack, home button connector, a tray for the handset’s SIM card as well as a new mini dock connector.

The smaller dock connector is consistent with earlier reports which suggest that a 19-pin connector port is set to be included in the upcoming iPhone 5.

This reduction from a 30-pin port would mean that speakers, power chargers and other accessories that beef up usability of Apple’s smartphones and tablets would only be possible with an adaptor.

According to the rumour mill Apple is expected to announce details of the iPhone 5 and the iPad Mini at an event next month.

Other purported specs that have surfaced about the iPhone 5 include the fact that iOS 6 will feature five rows of symbols, designed to give users greater control of how they access apps.

Apple iPad Mini – the latest

Current rumoured features for the iPad Mini include a screen size of 7.85 inches, with a resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels.

Screen shots allegedly showing the iPad Mini suggest a switch for separate volume buttons as well as speakers and a microphone that could be incorporated into the lower edge of the device.

With analysts predicting that sales of the iPad Mini could reach £6 million by the end of December 2012, Apple is set to continue its dominance of the tech world.
