Apple is not a company that’s known for its prolific manufacturing of products. While the likes of Samsung and Nokia run around throwing as many devices as possible at the market to see what sticks, Apple takes a slightly different approach.
Instead, it goes down the ‘less is more’ route, choosing to release a limited number of high-end products each year.
It is a strategy that obviously works very well – Apple has some of the highest customer retention and repeat business rates of any company in the world.
Apple getting busy
But this year it looks like the US tech giant is planning on being a little busier. So far we’ve had the iPad 3 (sorry, ‘iPad’), and the iPhone 5 countdown has already begun.
But that’s not all, we are due a Macbook or two this summer, as well as the exciting iTV – a fully fledged TV set, a first for Apple.
But we’re more excited about the rumoured iPad Mini – a sort of iPad Nano for those who don’t want to shell out the best part of £1,000 for a tablet. So when will we see this exciting new device?
Apple iPad Mini release
As with all its products, Apple is keeping its cards very close to its chest over the iPad Mini (which is just the working title by the way).
But there has been a revelation of late, courtesy of renowned tech blogger John Gruber. When asked on a US talk show about Apple’s plans for a smaller iPad, Gruber all but confirmed it.
He claimed that Apple has a 7.85-inch iPad, with a 1024×768 resolution, being tested and toyed with in the lab as we speak.
This doesn’t mean the device will ever make it to market, but Gruber did suggest that the iPad Mini could be unveiled at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference.
