Tablets are set for great things this year, with a raft of new devices due to hit our stores in the coming months.
Not only are the biggest tablets of the year going to be thinner, quicker and much more powerful, but they will (finally) be a bit cheaper too.
This buzz in the tablet world at the moment concerns pretty much just one thing – Apple’s iPad 3. But the US tech company will be getting some stiff competition from its old foe Samsung, in the form of the Galaxy Tab 7.7. So how do the two compare?
Launched last year, Samsung’s latest tablet got another airing at CES this year. We are yet to get an official launch date for this tablet, but it is likely to be sooner rather than later.
It is the world’s first tablet to come with a Super AMOLED Plus display, giving amazing colours and incredible sharpness.
With a 1.4GHz processor and running Android 3.2 Honeycomb, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 is one of the most impressive tablets we’ve seen in a long time.
That’s not to mention the size and weight. It comes in at 7.89mm thick and weighs a miniscule 340 grams, making the iPad 2 feel like a bit of a fatty.
As usual, Apple has been silent about its latest tablet offering, the iPad 3. But we’ve had the obligatory leaks from ‘trusted sources’ giving us some juicy details.
So far, we’ve had reports of a quad-core processor and high-res screen using dual-LED light bar technology to brighten up the display.
When it comes to size and weight, the iPad 3 and the Galaxy Tab 7.7 don’t really compare. If you want a lightweight, portable device then opt for the Galaxy Tab. If you want a bigger, but very impressive tablet, then the iPad 3 won’t disappoint.
