Apple iPad 3 leading the way in T3 gadget awards

Nominations for this year’s T3 gadget awards have already pointed to some front runners in the world of smartphone and gaming technology.

The award places leading gadgets and gizmos in one of 19 prize categories including Innovation of the Year, Gaming Gadget of the Year, App of the Year, and Commuter Gadget of the Year.

Despite controversy over claims of 4G compatibility in the UK, the iPad 3 has taken the most public votes in the competition so far and is in the running for five awards, including Gadget of the Year and the T3 Design Award.

PS Vita vs Raspberry Pi

Nominees in the Innovation of the Year category include Sony’s PS Vita and the Rapsberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi has caused waves in the world of computing by offering a ‘bare-bones computer’ with a price tag of under £20.

Smartphones that are in with a chance of triumphing in the Phone of the Year include the LG Prada Phone 3.0 and the Nokia Lumia 900.

It is rumoured that the LG Prada Phone was the inspiration for the iPhone, with similarities including touch-based UIs, capacitive displays, and strong black bezels.

Nokia Lumia 900 vs LG Prada Phone

The handset boasts a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage, which according to some industry experts doesn’t go far enough to match up to its so-called rival.

The Nokia Lumia 900 offers a number of features that have garnered praise around the world, including individually milled speaker holes that connect to an improved microUSB socket.

Other features include a front-facing 8MP camera with dual LED flash and apps such as Nokia Drive, complete with downloadable maps.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the HTC One X are also in with a chance of scooping the award. The awards take place on 8 October, so get your votes in now!
