Amazon Kindle Fire 2 – latest rumour round-up

As many of you will probably have noticed, the Amazon Kindle Fire is not on sale here in the UK at the moment. Still.

The ereader-cum-tablet has been going down a storm with our friends in the States, selling in the millions over Christmas and into the New Year.

And yet there is still no word from Amazon on whether we’ll see the device hit our stores any time soon, with the internet giant instead choosing to give us the Kindle Touch to keep us happy.

To really rub salt in the wounds, Amazon is rumoured to be preparing the next version of the Fire already. So what are the latest Kindle Fire 2 rumours?

Amazon Kindle Fire 2 release date

We may not have seen the first Kindle Fire over here yet, but it seems Amazon is wasting no time in pushing onwards and upwards with its devices.

A 2012 date is all but confirmed, it is merely a case of when. With the new Apple iPad in stores around the world, Amazon is not going be waiting long.

Three versions of Kindle Fire 2

This is the latest Kindle Fire 2 rumour to start doing the rounds, and by far the juiciest. According to reports from the Chinese Economic News Service, Amazon is preparing a three-pronged attack for the new Fire’s release.

The report states that the Kindle Fire 2 will come in three different variations – catering for the low-end, the middle, and the high-end.

The low-end device will be 7-inch model with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, while the mid-range offering will also be 7 inches but with a 1280 x 800 display.

Finally, the top-of-the-range device will be a bumper 8.9-inch model with a fantastic 1920 x 1200 display. It’s an exciting prospect, but we’re not sure if Amazon can really do high-end. Watch this space.
