Acer launches new Aspire S Series ultrabook with space-age trailer

Computer giant Acer’s latest offering to the ‘ultrabook’ laptop market is the Aspire S Series – a lightweight, ultra-fast, ultra-slim piece of kit.

The latest in their line of notebooks, the S Series sees Acer going all minimalist on us, with a sleek design, a wafer-thin LCD display, and as few ports as they could get away with.

But inside its 13mm thick body, the S Series packs a real punch. In the space-age trailer, Acer waste no time in telling us about the S Series’ power.

As the notebook floats through space, surrounded by planets and (for some reason) jellyfish, we are taken inside and out of this very impressive piece of equipment.

Instant connectivity

With Acer Green Instant On, you can put the S Series to sleep, and then have it spring back to life in less than two seconds. And there is no need to worry about battery life either. If you leave it sleeping for more than eight hours, the S Series will go into a deep sleep – conserving battery life for up to 50 days.

The connectivity speed is also pretty impressive. Using Acer Instant Connect, the S Series will remember your favourite access points and connect to them instantly, giving you internet access in two and half seconds – four times faster than previous notebooks.

Improved hardware

The trailer then takes us into the heart of the S Series’ 1.4kg body to check out the hardware. A 2nd Generation Intel Core Processor increases battery life and improves multi-tasking, and the SSD gives you quick access to your files. There is also an optional HDD for even more storage space.

Acer has also ramped up the sound and picture quality. A Dolby Home Theatre v4 trumpet audio and HDMI connectivity allow for high-def entertainment with cinema-quality sound. All this with a new airflow cooling design, so no need to worry about over-heating.
