A lot of TV for a reasonable cost: Toshiba Regza 40″

Toshiba Regza 40ZF355D

Rating: ★★★★☆

I had already bought a smaller screened model of this TV about six months ago for my bedroom, so I had a reasonable expectation of the quality I would be getting, and I wasn’t disappointed. In fact this variant had a lot more features such as three HDMI ports, a power off button (the smaller set only had stand by), PC input, RGB connection, USB port for photos, and multiple SCARTS.

Set up was very quick and easy on both analogue and freeview channels. Everything was up and running within about 15 minutes of opening the box.

For a big screen it is very light so I even managed to wall mount it on my own.

The picture and sound quality is the key to this TV’s exceptional value for money. Sharp colours, strong contrast and lack of blocky pixilation are instantly apparent. The sound quality is excellent and the inbuilt speakers are very powerful and have a crisp clear output.

The slick black finish of the body does seem to attract a lot of statically charged objects in the air but this is a minor annoyance.

  • Good Sound quality
  • Very easy initial set up and on screen menu
  • Freeview built in
  • Three HDMI connection ports

  • The TV does not retain any customised screen resolution settings and always reverts to default
  • Body attracts charged dust particles easily

This is the second Toshiba Regza I have bought this year (the other was a 32″ for my bedroom) and both of them have been fantastic value for money given the quality of the product. I would highly recommend this TV to anyone who wants a great product without paying a ridiculous amount for it.
